There are basically three types of materials for tile trims: PVC, aluminum and stainless steel.
1. PVC
PVC
is short for Polyvinyl Chloride. It is a kind of plastic decorative materials. In
domestic markets, PVC tile trims is widely used in big quantities and cheap
prices. One can almost see it in every building material market around China. But
its shortcoming is bad thermal stability and impact resistance. It is also weak
in anti-corrosion and oxidation resistance. No matter it is hard PVC or soft
PVC, it becomes brittle when it gets aging during usage.
2. Aluminum
The
main alloy elements of aluminum tile trims are aluminum, copper, silicon,
magnesium, zinc and manganese. Secondary alloy elements include nickel, iron,
titanium, chromium, lithium, etc. Aluminum is low in density but high in strength.
It is close to or even surpass good quality steel. It has good plasticity, so
can be processed into all kinds of profiles. It also has good electrical
conductivity, thermal conductivity and good resistance to corrosion. Aluminum
is widely used in engineering, and is next only to steel.
3. Stainless steel
Stainless
steel tile trims are far less popular than the previous two materials because
of their high prices. Stainless steel has high resistance to corrosive agents
like air, steam, water, acid, alkali, salt, etc.
